Privacy Policy for the Octuno Browser Extension

Applies to: the Chrome extension “FBA & FBM Rechner für Amazon: Gebühren, Kosten und Gewinn – Octuno”, and to nothing else. The use of octuno.io and the Octuno web app is covered by our general privacy policy.
Last updated: 17. August 2026

1) Controller

Octuno GmbH
Eiderstr. 3a, 44287 Dortmund, Germany
Commercial register: Dortmund, HRB 27289
Email: support@octuno.io

2) What the extension does

On product pages of amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.it, amazon.es and amazon.nl the extension opens a sidebar that calculates Amazon FBA and FBM fees, cost of goods, margin, profit and a target purchase price for the product on that page. It runs on those five sites only. On every other website nothing is loaded, read or transmitted.

3) Data read from the Amazon product page

So the calculation does not have to be typed in by hand, the extension reads the following from the product page you have open:

  • ASIN
  • product title
  • gross selling price
  • package dimensions and weight
  • category (breadcrumb)
  • the marketplace, derived from the domain (DE/FR/IT/ES/NL)

Nothing else is read from the page — no account data, no order history, no page content beyond the fields listed above.

4) What is transmitted, and when

The only recipient is our own server at api.octuno.io. There is no third-party recipient, no analytics service, no advertising network and no tracking pixel. Every request runs over HTTPS.

a) Every time a product page opens

  • the marketplace code, to load the current fee tables
  • the marketplace code and the ASIN, to look up the official package dimensions Amazon holds for that product — they are what FBA fees are calculated from

This happens whether or not you are signed in. Because the ASIN identifies the product page you are on, a record of the Amazon product pages you visited while the extension was active is created on our server. It is not used for advertising, is not profiled and is not passed on.

b) Only when you save a calculation to your account

The product data listed under 3) together with the figures you entered yourself: purchase price, order quantity, freight, customs, advertising share, returns rate and the selling prices per marketplace. This only happens when you press the button, and it requires an Octuno account with an active subscription.

c) Only when you sign in

Signing in happens on app.octuno.io, not inside the extension — no password is ever typed into the sidebar. The extension only receives a one-time code and exchanges it for an access token and a refresh token, which it keeps locally on your device. These tokens are sent to api.octuno.io as proof of identity for account features.

d) Only when you subscribe to the newsletter

First name, last name, email address, your consent, the interface language and the version of the consent wording shown to you. Subscription uses double opt-in: the address is only added once you click the link in the confirmation email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. Entering this is optional — the calculator works without it.

5) What stays on your device

The following is stored locally in the browser and is never transmitted:

  • side and width of the sidebar, and the chosen interface language
  • your default settings for the calculator (freight rates, advertising share, returns rate, VAT)
  • the number of Excel files already downloaded
  • the access and refresh tokens described under 4c)

Uninstalling the extension removes all of it.

6) Legal bases and retention

  • Fee tables, dimension lookup and calculating: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the service you requested), and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for the technical logs needed to run it.
  • Account and saved calculations: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Kept for as long as your account exists.
  • Newsletter: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). Kept until you unsubscribe; the record of consent is kept as evidence.

7) Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and you may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Write to support@octuno.io. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

8) Limited Use declaration

Octuno’s use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, the data described above is:

  • not sold or transferred to third parties;
  • not used or transferred for any purpose unrelated to the extension’s single purpose — calculating Amazon fees and profitability for the product page you are on;
  • not used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes;
  • not read by any human, except where you have given explicit consent for specific data, where it is necessary for security purposes or to comply with applicable law, or where the data is aggregated and anonymised.

The newsletter address is used for the newsletter and for nothing else. It is collected separately, only on your active request, and never as a condition for using the calculator.
